I have recently completed a Public Art commission in Hazelbank Park, Whiteabbey, for Newtownabbey Borough Council and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, it consists of a stainless steel frame with an illustrated map inserted into the frame. The map is created from fused glass.
The idea came from the original causeway coast road, designed by Sir Charles Lanyon (Architect / County Surveyor for County Antrim in the 1930′s) who lived in Whiteabbey. The road is now referred to as ‘The Causeway Coastal Route’ and the map illustrates this route from Whiteabbey to The Giant’s Causeway.
